Pom Pom Bookmark - 7 / 20 DIY Gifts Under $20

Activity 7 of our '20 gifts Under $20' series!! 💰

Gift #7 – Pom Pom Bookmarks!

With your All The Colours painter's parcel (paint & art pad) and some Paint Pens already on hand, you’ll need:

  1. Yarn - $8 from Spotlight Aus

Total Spend - $8

Step 1

Using a sheet of paper from you All The Colours art pad, cut out your book mark. We decided on a wavy outline for something a little different!

Step 2

Paint your bookmark with colour blocks, shapes or any design you wish!

Step 3

Once dry, add an extra layer of gorgeous details using your paint pens. We went for a floral pattern in this example - but this could even be a message for the special bookmark recipient!

Step 4

Punch a hole in the top of the book mark so it's ready to thread with the pom pom string soon.

Step 5

I wanted multicoloured pom poms, but I didn't want to buy heaps of yarn given how little we'd need - so we actually coloured our yarn using our All The Colours paints. Simple mix 20% paint with 80% water in a little pot, and coat a 1 metre piece of yarn. Pull out and place on some baking paper until dry.

Step 6

Once the yarn is dry, get started on your pom poms! Using two identically sized donuts cut out of cardboard (we traced a small shot glass to ensure they were the same size), cut a slit all the way through on one side. Then, start wrapping the yarn around and around the donut.

Step 7

Using the gap in between your two cardboard donuts, cut the yarn all the way around the outside of the donut.

Step 8

Using a long piece of yarn, tie the pom pom together by knotting it tightly in the middle of the two cardboard donuts.

Step 9

You can use just one pom pom, or tie multiple together and then attach them to the bookmarks using the prepared loop hole. And that's it!

Pick a book you know your loved one will enjoy, and delight in gifting them something thoughtful and heartfelt!

Happy Creating!

xx
