Gift # 3 - Lovely Lamps!
Add a pop of colour to a loved ones' space, with these gorgeous, lamps of love.
With you're paint and paint pens ready, you'll need to purchase a lamp that will allow your little one to decorate the lamp shade with easy. You'll want to select a fabric shaded lamp. We picked one up for $12 from Target Aus (which at the time of publishing is on sale for $8!). This one also allowed us to stain the base as it has a ceramic bottom.
Step1: Paint the Lamp Shade
Let the kids choose their their base colours and start painting the lamp shade! Get creative with patterns, designs and colour blocks.
Step 2: Paint the Lamp Base (optional)
This may not be appropriate depending on the type of lamp you have purchased, but if suitable, give it a go! In our example, my son painted the base green, and then wiped off the excess paint to leave a green stain like affect in the folds of the ceramic base (see tip below).
Step 3: Add Details
Once the base coat is dry, it's time to add some details with paint pens. Whether you want to add polka dots, stripes, or doodles, encourage them to try different techniques with the paint pens. This is where you can really make your lamp unique and personalized.
Step 3: Assemble the Lamp
After you've finished decorating your lamp, allow it to dry completely before screwing in the globe and assembling the lamp.
Wrap it. Gift it. Watch the lucky recipient love it!
Happy Creating!
xx Brooke
TIP:
If you choose to paint the ceramic base, please apply a top coat to ensure longevity! This can be purchased, or made by mixing 20% water with 80% PVA glue.
