Colourful Contact Envelopes

Cool colourbomb envelopes for holding all that art!

If you're cupboards are anything like ours, they're BURSTING with kids' creations - too beautiful to throw away, but also what on earth do you do with it all?! We have the solution. A creative activity in and of itself, with a super helpful outcome.

Step 1: Gather your stuff

  • Clear contact paper
  • Colourful paper
  • Sticky tape
  • Scissors
  • Markers or coloured pencils (optional)
  • Stickers, glitter, or any other decorative items you like (optional)

Step 2: Get set, go!

With the materials ready, it's time for imaginations to run wild. Start be cutting two pieces of contact paper to exactly the same size. Take the backing off one sheet of contact paper, and begin covering it with all different shapes and patterns using the coloured paper. Mix and match different patterns, create paper images or mini collages.

Step 3: Decorate

With the bottom sheet of contact paper now completely covered with coloured paper, the kids can add their name, decorate with stickers or sparkles, or colour-in images - whatever and wherever their creativity takes them.

Step 4: Cover & Stick

When the masterpiece is complete, peel and adhere the second piece of contact paper so that the art is now covered on both sides. Then, simply fold the art in half, pressing firmly on the fold line, and run a long piece of sticky tape on each side to create the envelope. I also ran a line of tape along the raw edges at the top of the envelope so that it doesn't wear over time.

And that's it! Stuff them with all their favourite pieces, or use as a school folder!

Happy crafting!

xx
